2015

A Humble Beginning

It all started when Joseph Berljawsky met David Ball, a seasoned real estate lawyer with 20 years of experience. We officially founded Ball & Berljawsky with a small team of two clerks. At first, we were closing just a few dozen deals a month.

2016

A New Chapter

By 2016, we had hired a few more clerks and administrative staff. Our firm was beginning to find its rhythm. With modest and consistent growth by 2019, Mike and Joseph made the decision to become partners. The firm had grown to about 15 people, and we were starting to think about our next steps.

2020

A Game-Changing Merger

In 2020, we merged with another firm, bringing in Sanjay Soni, a legend in the industry known for his innovative software and leadership. The merger was a turning point, growing our team to about 40 people. Sanjay transitioned to software development, while Mike and Joseph took over the operations.

2021

Expanding Nationally

In late 2021, as we began thinking about expanding to other provinces, we were introduced to Ryan Mackay, a fellow lawyer operating in Alberta. Through our conversations, we realized we shared similar philosophies and practices, including custom software development with the help of our now Chief Operating Officer, Crispin Hoggarth. The kindness and dedication of Ryan’s team mirrored our own, and by the end of the year, we had merged, nearly doubling our size and becoming one of the largest residential real estate law groups in Canada.

2025

2025 and Beyond: A Bright Future

Now, in 2025, we continue our mission to improve real estate transactions across Canada. Our team has grown to over 100 people and with the right tools, the right people, and the right processes, we will provide our clients with the confidence they need during one of the most important moments of their lives. Property Law Firm is here to make real estate transactions smoother, more efficient, and more rewarding for everyone involved.

This is just the beginning of our journey, and we are excited for what the future holds!
